I booked this rental on QEEQ and went to St Thomas with my kid. Everything was planned pretty well at first. Around February 9 in the early afternoon I went to the Budget counter to pick up the car with my child. I just wanted to finish fast and go to the hotel. The staff at the counter checked my booking and then walked into the manager office. After a while he came back and told me they could not honor my booking price and if I still wanted the car I had to pay around three hundred more dollars. I was really shocked. I asked why and he could not give a clear reason. He just kept saying I had to pay more. My kid was already getting impatient next to me and I really needed the car so I had no choice and I paid and took the car. Later that day in the hotel I started to feel this was not right. I contacted their customer service and sent photos of the contract. I told them I did not add any extra service and I was just forced to pay more. In the next days I was taking care of my kid and also talking with customer service. They kept checking the contract and the total amount with me. They did not just say one or two simple words and push me away. They also explained the roadside assistance fee on the paper and helped me pick out the real extra part of a bit more than two hundred sixty dollars. They said they would talk to the rental company for me. The whole thing did not finish super fast but I got updates from them every once in a while so I knew they were still working on it. At the end they told me the extra money was sent back to them and asked me to give a bank account. I was a bit worried because I did not really want to share my bank info and I also asked if there was some safer way. They then helped me step by step to check the account name and details until I felt it was correct and clear. After that the money was transferred to my account. For me the Dedicated customer service really stood out in this case. They did not tell me to just deal with the rental counter by myself. They stayed on my side and followed this problem to the end. As a parent traveling with a kid I really care about this feeling that someone is actually looking after me when things go wrong.
